Add Text to Photo Online

Add text to a photo online for free with real text layers: pick the Text tool, click where the caption should go, type, and press Enter. The text stays a live layer — move it, re-edit it, change font/size/color anytime — until you flatten. Everything runs in your browser and the photo is never uploaded.

How to add text to photo online — 4 steps

  1. Open your photo — drop it anywhere on the editor, or use File → Open Image. Nothing is uploaded.
  2. Pick the Text tool (T). The option bar above the canvas sets size, font (Arial, Georgia, Courier New, Impact, Verdana, Trebuchet MS) and color.
  3. Click on the image where the text should appear, type in the pop-up editor, and press Enter — the caption lands as its own text layer.
  4. Fine-tune: drag it with the Move tool (V), click it again with the Text tool to re-word, or set layer opacity and blend mode in the Layers panel. Then File → Export.

FAQ

How do I add a watermark to a photo?

Pick the Text tool (T), click a corner of the image, type your handle or copyright, and press Enter. Lower the layer's opacity in the Layers panel for a subtle watermark, then export. The text stays editable — you can reword it any time before flattening.

Can I move the text after placing it?

Yes — text is a real layer, not baked pixels. Select the Move tool (V) and drag it anywhere, or click it with the Text tool to edit the words. Only flattening the image makes text permanent.

What fonts and styles are supported?

Six web-safe fonts — Arial, Georgia, Courier New, Impact, Verdana and Trebuchet MS — render identically on every device, with free size and color control from the Text tool's option bar.

Is my photo uploaded when I add text?

No. Text rendering uses the Canvas API inside your browser. Nothing is transmitted — the privacy strip under the editor is literal, not marketing.
