Resize Image Online

Resize a photo online for free without uploading it. Open the Image Size dialog to rescale the whole document, or skip straight to the exact-KB exporter, which binary-searches quality (or dimensions for PNG) until the file lands within about 2 KB of the size a portal or form demands.

How to resize image online — 4 steps

  1. Drop your photo anywhere on the editor (or use File → Open Image). Nothing is uploaded.
  2. Optional: crop first with the Crop tool (C) if you also need a different aspect ratio — resizing keeps proportions.
  3. For pixel-precise resizing, open Image → Image Size, type new width/height, and confirm — all layers rescale together.
  4. Open File → Export (Ctrl+E), pick JPG or PNG, and type your target — e.g. 100 KB — in the Exact KB box. The binary-search exporter converges in a second.

FAQ

How do I shrink a photo that is too large to upload?

Open it in this editor, press Ctrl+E for the export dialog, type the maximum size the site accepts (for example 200 KB) in the Exact KB box, and press Export to target KB. The encoder searches quality or dimensions until your file fits.

What is the difference between resizing and compressing?

Resizing reduces pixel dimensions (a 4000×3000 photo becomes 2000×1500) via Image → Image Size; compressing reduces bytes at the same dimensions. The exact-KB exporter uses both levers — quality for JPG/WebP, dimensions for PNG.

Will resizing make my photo blurry?

Image Size rescales layers with high-quality smoothing, and for JPG/WebP the exporter prefers lowering quality over dropping pixels, so everyday photos stay sharp at portal sizes.

Is there a file-size limit for the photo I open?

Images are limited only by your device's memory; anything above 8192 px on the long edge is scaled down automatically on open to keep editing smooth.
